Sadie
Sadie was picked up from Islip shelter 7 yrs ago and was immediately adopted by her foster family (that was probably the last time I asked my sister to pick up a pup for me lol) She had some health issues the past few years and sadly crossed the bridge this morning. She was asleep next to her momma where she was every night. We will all miss her terribly. RIP Sweet Sadie

Charlie
Charlie 5/5/19 - 8/28/22 Our sweet boy Charlie went to join his brothers Watson, Sherlock, Elmo and Diesel at the Rainbow Bridge. He was diagnosed with an aggressive mass in one of his lungs on 5/10/22 and the vet only gave him between a few days to a couple of weeks to live. Our brave boy fought his cancer but sadly the cancer won 110 days later and he passed peacefully in my arms. We adopted our little man when he was between 6 – 8 years old on 5/5/19. I can only hope that he feels we gave him the same joy and love that he gave us in the almost 40 months we had together. We cherished every second that we had with Charlie. He was the sweetest boy who loved giving kisses and snuggles. He got along great with his brother Reeses from the day they met! They were two peas in a pod up to the end. Reeses is grieving in his own way still sniffing and looking for him. Thank you for all you do rescuing the pups to find them good and loving homes. Catherine Engdahl and Gary Stehr and of course Reeses

General Sherman
First off let me thank you for letting us adopt general Sherman into our family. I would have never guessed 9 years ago that we would have let such joy into our lives. He was the most well behaved and loving dog I’ve ever been around. We fell in love with him the moment Theresa brought him over for the meet and greet. He loved to be out in the sun or marking his territory at every tree on our walks. When Monty was alive he loved cuddling with him or licking each other for hours. When we had our son he was so good with him and very patience with the crazy toddler. Of course he loved sitting next to Charlie to see what would drop from the highchair. With a broken heart I need to let you know that Sherman passed on his own yesterday at 3pm. He had shown signs of not feeling well so we took him to the vet for bloodwork and x-rays. We had to put him on heart meds and diuretics for his enlarged liver. The blood work showed elevation in his liver enzyme possibly due to Cushing’s and kidney values elevated possibly due to stress/dehydration from not eating. His white blood count was also elevated and he had a mild cardiac enlargement and mild bronchial changes. His breathing was so bad it was as if he was gasping for air. We went back and forth deciding what further actions to take but he stopped eating and moving and we had to decide about his quality of life. We made the decision to put him to sleep today however yesterday he started failing fast and we took him to the animal hospital and he passed when we got there. He will be missed by so many. Anyone who met him fell in love immediately because he was such a sweet boy. Our family is heartbroken and will remember him fondly.

Kenzie
It is with a heavy heart that I relay the passing of Kenzie Alpern [adopted 10/21/16- passed 6/15/22]. I was not in the market for a dog, but Kenzie was in the market for a Mother. At a Yorkie911 Rescue event there was a corral of yorkies and one oddball shaved dog [not a yorkie] who was jumping vertically as if to say ‘get me out of here’. I picked up the dog. She melted in my arms. Five days later Kenzie was mine. Kenzie was the absolute best; smart, funny & so good. Every person who met Kenzie could not help but fall in love with her. She was the mascot of my law office, and she had many fans in the gated-community where I live. My gratitude to Heidi Walker for bringing Kenzie into my life is immeasurable. RIP -- Jamie

Lilly
We lost Lilly on March 9, 2021. She fought PLE for over 6 months, tolerating the weekly blood tests and all the meds in her normal tenacious way. She was our Princess. The littlest one in our house, but the boss. She was fearless (even though she had no teeth and weighed 9 lbs) she tried to bite my horse’s nose! In her mind she weighed 100 lbs and had all her teeth. She came to work with me and was a great store dog, sleeping behind the desk and sometimes coming out to see what was going on. She was my shadow, sleeping next to me, following me everywhere. She was insulted if she had to stay in the car when I got gas or went to the store and let me know in no uncertain way barking and making gremlin noises. She had enough personality for 3 dogs. My little Lilly Bug was my heart. We only had her in our lives for 2 ½ years, not even close to long enough. But even though the pain of loosing her is tremendous, I wouldn’t change a moment of the time we had together. She will live on forever in my heart. Thank you to everyone at Yorkie 911 and especially Charmaine for saving my little girl and giving us the gift of having her in our family. Natasha Tarasov and Joe Wilson
