Rainbow Bridge
One of our rescue squad has crossed the Bridge. From his mom, Sue: "Oliver was my first yorkie and its because of him, that I fell so deeply in love with the breed. He came to me at 8 weeks of age with a promise by the pet store, that he was the “runt” of the litter and for sure will not be more than 4 pounds. Well, Oliver was certainly no runt and filled out to be a 14 pound big ball of sweetness and love. After many years of couching and bribing, Oliver became somewhat of a champion swimmer. As big as he was, he was like a delicate ballerina once he hit the water. Even this past summer, when he was having trouble breathing and couldn’t swim…he was so happy to just let me hold him so he could float around in my arms. Being a puppy mill dog, Oliver ,develveloped many of the diseases associated with puppy mills. He had his own medicine chest which included an inhaler he took 3 times a day. He fought very long and hard and so at last, my big handsome boy, is finally having a peaceful sleep. I will never stop missing him."
It is with great sadness that we said goodbye to Sandie today. She was a sweet pup that came to us just a few months ago. She developed diabetes, coupled with cushings in addition to cancer. RIP sweet Sandie. We know you are running and playing over the bridge.
From Pilly's Forever Foster Family: I am sad to say that today we had to watch our Pilly girl go to Rainbow Bridge. Pilly first came to us in March as a foster girl who was diabetic. We took her in and my husband Randy committed to giving her insulin shots twice a day. She was such a good girl, they had a routine and she fully cooperated. We quickly fell in love with Pilly. While caring for Pilly we found lumps and after they were removed and biopsied it turned out to be cancer. We knew she would not be able to be adopted out and knew we already loved her so much, we decided to keep her and love her. Pilly was playful and sweet a very good girl who was house trained. She developed a strong attachment to Randy. After 4 months Pilly went blind due to her diabetes but adjusted well. She developed a cough a month ago and she was on antibiotics. Last two weeks she began some heavy breathing started off slow then the last 2 days developed into panting. We could feel her lumps had spread and knew it was time. We took her to the vet who said the cancer had gone to her lungs. Pilly was exhausted from trying to breathe and we needed to honor this little girl who in six months gave us so much love. She was an unexpected surprise we didn't know we wanted until we got her. We miss her so much and are heart broken. She will be with us in our hearts forever. Special Thank You to Heidi Walker for saving her from a horrible situation and placing her with us!! Giving us the opportunity to show her not all humans are mean and cruel. RIP..Pilly Girl we love and miss you!
RIP My Grumpy Old Man. My heart is ripped into a million pieces.
It's been a sad weekend here at the Dolby-Frists. On Friday night, our beloved Woody died. He was sixteen years old. He had a busy five years, from his rescue off the streets of Paterson, New Jersey to a life traveling everywhere with us -- Wainscott, New York City, San Francisco, Tahoe, Sonoma, Los Angeles, Indianapolis. We will never forget him. Thanks to all our friends who gave him so much love -- and most of all, thanks to Woody, who will always be our sweet little boy. |
